After the last session, Millie's owners were a bit dubious about having her treated again. She was very subdued for the rest of the day and slept a great deal.
I explained that this can occur with healing, the emotions that she had buried long ago were resurfacing and although animals do not carry emotional baggage like humans do, the body retains information and emotions and can hold it there. I was giving Millie the tools to release these emotions so that she could in turn heal herself.
The therapy also continues to work for 24 hours as that is how long it takes for energy to do a complete circuit of the body. Which would explain her sleeping as well as the fact that sleep is the time when the body best regenerates.
This time the session was held at Millie's home, I wanted her to feel most at ease and it was a great opportunity to see how she reacted in her own environment. Initially she greeted me, albeit a little warily, but still came to me when called. I began with the 'hug hold' and the main central vertical to rebalance her body's energy. Without reading her pulses I recommenced the #24 & #26 flow which this time she was more than happy to receive. She sat contentedly for me. Which is how all animals come to be.
Generally, when introduced to High Touch Jin Shin, it is neither liked or disliked by an animal. It is simply 'different'. When humans go to any sort of therapist they are happy to stick it out, even if it feels uncomfortable or even 'weird' because they know that there will be a positive end result. Animals live in the 'now' so do not distinguish between the past and present, whether or not they used to feel better than they do now, or that what is happening to them is going to make them OK again. Instead they just view everything as 'different' and are not comfortable with the change.
Even if an animal has been in pain for years, nursing a limp for example, and suddenly the cause of that issue is treated, the animal will react, not necessarily in a negative way, but simply because even though they have that pain they have managed quite well by compensating for it. So much so that it becomes the norm for them, if you take that away they then have to readjust to life without the limp - It's not bad, just different. This is why I take it very slowly in the initial stages of High Touch Jin Shin, allowing the animal to leave when they want to...they always return in the end because it feels so good!
Back to Millie...
She sat happily for me for a time in which I noticed the gurgling of the stomach and a few yawns. I felt it was right for me to treat the opposite side and Millie agreed by turning around and laying down so that I could reach her better. After about 10 minutes she sat up again and stretched out her back legs, displaying her #15's to me.
Now #15 is the embodiment of happiness and joy an area where Millie is clearly lacking. Rather than focussing on the partners of #15 I just held both sides together as it is obviously what Millie was requesting. I felt a great deal of heat here and the pulses were very sharp and tinny which indicated that she was stuck in the second depth where grief is the predominant emotion.
Again she didn't need long and pulled away after a few minutes before licking my chin in thanks.
I had already decided to rework her #24 & #26 flow the next time I saw her as although there were break throughs I wasn't sure that the sessions had fully gone through to all levels yet.
I was impressed with the 'kiss' and got up to wash my hands before leaving. When I returned to the room Millie was hiding behind the male owners legs and began growling at me. I felt that perhaps he supported her behaviour by not removing her from his security as clearly shouting at her did nothing. Instead I told her to 'pack it in or I won't treat you again' and she stopped immediately. I suppose it would be surprising to some, but I truly believe that animals understand a whole lot more than we give them credit for!
Till next time....

Part Two
I asked how Millie was after the first session and was told that she slept for the rest of the afternoon which is a good sign. On waking she took a great interest in her surroundings, sniffing and exploring as if seeing for the first time.
On greeting her, she crawled 'rambo-style' to me again. Resting just in front of me.
Again I applied the 'hug hold' to calm and reassure her as well as telling her that I was not there to hurt her. I noticed that the clouding of her eyes did not seem as much as when she was with me last and judging by the report from her owners it does certainly seem to be an improvement visionally.
Millie strikes me as a very confused dog, unsure of her status within her new pack and finding it difficult adjusting. Her body scan also drew me to the area. With this in mind I decided to work her #24 & #26 flow;
#24 - Is on the outer side of the hind feet. Often referred to as the Peacemaker and is associated with keeping the life free of Chaos it allows for cleansing of the toxins and stimulates the lymph system, emotionally it is good when presented with obstinacy, emotional trauma and multiple mental issues.
#26 - Is on the outside of the ribcage. Associated with Self Love. A blocked #26 results in being stalled in the progression of life. Physically it affects the chest area. This point recharges mental and physical functions and when blocked can show signs of low self-esteem and a general feeling of being tired with life.
Again, Millie was a little wary of the attention but stayed with me nonetheless, after a moment or two she showed signs of release although not quite as positive as before. She suddenly lunged forward at me but without opening her mouth, a gesture that you would instinctively move away from, I calmed her with my voice and tried again but without hands on. She took it for about 5 minutes more before deciding that she had enough for today.
I showed her owners the technique for the 'hug hold' and suggest they leave it for today but do it on a daily basis, when it came for Millie to go she was in a rush and looked positively spooked.
All in all I thought it a very successful session, albeit short, as her reaction and eagerness to leave showed me that some sort of buried emotion had been brought to the forefront. I only hope that it isn't too long until I see her again.....

Millie's First Session
Millie was the perfect candidate to show the effectiveness of High Touch Jin Shin Acupressure on Emotional Problems
Case History
Millie is a rescue dog, a 7 year old brindle french bulldog.
Unwanted by her breeder owner because she used to take over the other bitches litters, she was eventually moved outside to a heated kennel where she stayed for 3 years before being rehomed.
Initially she was an adorable dog, when she was spayed shortly after rehoming she became increasingly aggressive toward visitors. More so towards the new owners son and daughter-in-law who would visit on a regular basis. It was these two who collected Millie in the first instance and seemed to get on very well with her, it was a sudden change in temperament which shocked the family.
Millie went from greeting them in the home to showing signs of aggression and hiding behind the owners legs whilst growling. This then escalated to attempting to bite the son and daughter-in-law when unprovoked.
Millie has also developed issues with her bowels, fluctuating from constipation to diarrhea as well as developing clouding of the eyes, a possible onset of glaucoma or cataracts and an obsessive licking of the furniture.
First Session
When I first saw Millie she seemed wary, coming to me on her belly like a soldier crawling through an obstacle course. Outwardly she was a heavy set dog with a fine coat and no obvious
signs of ailments apart from her eyes. Her teeth were in good order and she is fed a varied diet.I used the 'hug' hold to reassure her and attempt to put her at ease. This involves focussing on the #13 & #9 points (just below the shoulders and in the centre of her chest). She enjoyed the feeling that this gave her although did not completely relax as many of animals tend to do.
The main central vertical was the next flow that I applied, to harmonise the body and give it an intitial energy boost. Again all went well, a few signs of release such as yawning, stomach rumbling and licking of the lips.
This tends to be the extent of the first session, to allow the animal to come to adjust to the changes in itself which comes with the therapy, and to give the body time to begin its work in healing itself. High Touch Jin Shin is a tool to unblock areas of stagnant energy and assists the body's own natural healing system. Its work is cumulative and can continue for 24 hours after each session. Hence leaving Millie with the initial taster.
Check back and see how she got on and what came next....
